ACP Building Works
01/12/2006 - Images © Torunn Momtazi, Text by ACP
For much of 2006 the front part of the ACP building has undergone construction to remodel its interiors - converting what was once a bistro and dining room into a new exhibition and events space, and its alfresco dining area into a reading lounge. We are proud to be launching these new spaces with the exhibitions Dutch Dare and the d/Lux Media Arts' SYNCITY in October 2006. Australian Centre for Photography will be closed from 24 December 2006 to 26 January 2007 to complete phase 2 of this redevelopment. We will re-open on 27 January 2007 with the continuation of the Pet Project exhibition.

On Sunday 30 April in the cocktail lounge of Paddington and Woollahra RSL, ACP members, friends and interested members of the general public arrived for a talk by AD Coleman, one of America's best known photographic critics and influential reviewers. The multi-award-winning writer who is translated into 21 languages talked about the changing face of photomedia over the past forty years and his own personal journey of discovery of the medium. The talk took place in the RSL lounge with an open bar. The talk was followed by questions from the audience on how the digital has changed photography and on the protection of privacy in the public domain. Many of AD Coleman's books were on sale including the now out of print Light Readings. Look out for future talks at ACP.
