From the moment we are born we are hard-wired to
respond to the features of the human face. No
matter how many people we meet or pictures we see,
the face beguiles us with the promise of
insight.
Timed to coincide with the announcement of the
Archibald Prize, this exhibition explores our
fascination with the face through the work of
contemporary Australian photographers. Ranging in
form and content, the images in this exhibition
exploit and extend the conventions of
portraiture.
