Mobile

11 February - 12 March, 2000

Tue - Sun: 11.00am - 6.00pm
Galleries One and Two

in association with Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras
Di Barrett, Ann Shelton and Rebecca Swan

Incorporating the work of three artists from Australia and New Zealand, 'Mobile' embraces new techniques and technologies to confront the complexities of living with desire.

Curated by the ACP for the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras Festival this exhibition brings together the saccharine images of Di Barrett, Ann Shelton's seductive retro-interiors and the moving CD-ROM installation of Rebecca Swan.

"Perhaps the memory will always evade me, because I cannot return to the naive thoughts and visual fantasies of when I was eight years old."
Di Barrett

'Mobile' challenges notions of the 'typical', inhabits borders and the spaces between 'norms' to offer us the possibility of observing the way in which we see ourselves and the communities that both surround us and in which we live.
