... a world where every meaning is hollowed out and moral order is inverted

Presented by the ACP and spanning three sites in Paddington, Yugoslavian War trilogy brings together for the first time all three works in Dennis Del Favero's major project on the Balkan war, and features the Australian premiere of the final piece, Cross Currents.

The trilogy investigates through photography, video installation and interactive CD-ROM, historical events surrounding the recent Balkan wars. Ignored by much of the media coverage, these events reveal a terrible sexual dimension to the conflict. Involving genocide, rape camps and sex slavery, they have become defining emblems of a war which consciously used sex as a strategic weapon.

With an international reputation, Dennis Del Favero is Australia's leading exponent of new media on the cusp of art and politics.

Cross Currents was selected as the first project to be created at ZKM, the Centre for Art and Media, Europe's premiere digital arts museum, under their PRODUCED@ZKM digital installation series. The other elements of this major body of work have been shown in Austria, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Israel, Italy and the UK.

The artist gratefully acknowledges the financial assistance of ZKM, the University of Western Sydney Nepean and the Visual Arts and Craft Fund of the Australia Council.
