Wave

'The Wave' was a vast mixed-media artwork
investigating the coast as site, ecosystem and
metaphor. It comprised an installation of huge
shadowgrams (one completed and four fragments, the
largest a triptych of 4.2 x 6.7 metres) which
recorded at life-scale an image of an ocean wave
breaking on a wild Victorian seashore at night.
'The Wave' shadowgrams were produced by immersing a
24 square metre raft of black and white
photographic paper into the sea at night at
Bushrangers Bay (on the edge of Mornington
Peninsula National Park in Victoria) and exposing
it to moonlight and flash.
